Part "L" Building RegulationsNew & Replacement Boilers From 1st April 2005 the energy performance standard for new and replacement gas-fired hot water central heating boilers was raised. We are all by now aware of the issues around climate change and pollution caused by carbon dioxide. Around 16% of the carbon dioxide that the UK produces comes from the gas boilers that we use to heat our homes. This is why this change in the law has come into force. It means that, in normal circumstances when you plan to install a new boiler or replace an existing one, you will need a condensing boiler to meet the higher standards set out for energy efficiency. Failing to comply with this law may prevent the sale of your house in the future as new fitted boilers must be "certified" by either the local council or by the industry regulators Corgi (gas) and Oftec (oil). MG Fowkes is fully qualified to ensure that these standards are met at that all work undertaken by our engineers and installers complies in full with the new regulations. MG Fowkes are members of the Gas Safety Register.
